Settling In – News From Christ Central, Penge
Regions Beyond July 12, 2017
Nearly 6 months has passed since we moved back to Penge to lead the team at Christ Central but we [Richie and Raina Powell] have settled quickly as coming back to people and family you love always makes things easier.
Leading Christ Central posed a number of challenges not least of all taking a church on who had been through a very difficult time. Some of the people were hurting and some of the people had lost their vision, so the first thing we knew God had for us to do was to provide a safe place for people to heal and become unified again. We experienced His goodness and kindness as we worshipped and preached through a sermon series called “The challenge of Change”.
It was in the beginning of March that God profoundly spoke to me the vision and mission of Christ Central church Penge. As I began to share this in a team meeting you could see the revelation that each of us were getting from God as He gave us definition for all that we are called to do; the sense of excitement is something that will live with us for some time to come.
The church have been brilliant and have embraced us with such love and have bought into all that God is doing through Christ Central in these days. Our praise and worship at the moment is like touching heaven as the hunger for God in this place increases.
We started the year with many words that God wanted to rebuild the walls and that this church had been under siege for some time, but that God had sent us to do a work which would not only rebuild what was there before but would take us on into the next phase of what God has for Christ Central. To serve and work alongside these beautiful people is a privilege and honour, the spiritual gifts that we have among us surely means that God has much more that He wants to do in this place.
Here is what we know; God builds His church but in His extraordinary humility invites us to partner with Him.
