Rooted Relationships In Jesus
We live in a society where there are few lasting relationships, but if you look at the Bible the central relationship between Jesus and his Church lasts for all eternity. If we are to be rooted and grounded in Christ in our relationships, then we need to build quality relationships that stand the test of time. How is this possible?
Building on the right foundation is key to having relationships that are rooted in Him. Building engineers will agree on one thing, the strength of a building lies primarily in its foundation. The foundation holds the structure above it and keeps it upright. It also determines the shape of the building, height, size etc. In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus points to Himself and His words as the reliable foundation on which to build.
‘Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.’
What does Jesus mean when He says we should build on Him and His words? We want to explore this as we seek to build biblical relationships that glorify Jesus.
