Introducing Bryan Mowrey

New Ground April 19, 2018

We are excited that Bryan Mowrey will be joining us at this summer’s Leadership Conference. Some of you may know Bryan, but others won’t, so we thought we’d ask him some questions to introduce him to the New Ground family.

Bryan, can you tell us a little bit about who you are and some of the key moments of your life so far?

I was raised in a Christian home to loving, godly parents. However, was turned off by the legalistic church environments of the 1980s. At my first opportunity, I slipped out the backdoor of the church, thinking I would never return. Unbeknown to me, God was after me and in my final year of university, I had a profound encounter with God in my apartment. It felt like a Damascus Road encounter as it was vivid, irresistible and both a call into relationship and ministry.

What has your involvement been within church life and ministry?

After college (1998), I went to work as a Financial Advisor and stumbled into a church plant named Jubilee led by John Lanferman. John along with a man named Rich Hein discipled me and developed me as a leader. Three years later, I was invited to join the staff and two years after joining the staff, was asked to lead the church, which I have been doing for the past 13 years. In 2010, I was asked to join John’s apostolic team. In 2017, I started leading the sphere John pioneered in the USA that has been renamed Confluence and now extends into Mexico.

What’s your favourite Bible passage and why?

Psalm 81:10, “Open your mouth wide and I will fill it…” It’s the verse that God used to call me out of rebellion into relationship. It’s also a prophetic promise that has marked my life and ministry. 20 years later, it’s as real and true as it was when I first read it.

How long have you known Dave Holden for and what’s your favourite memory of him?

I first met Dave Holden 19 years ago. My favourite memory of Dave is any time that he’s tried to dance – He didn’t think anyone was watching…but they were.
