Festival 2018: Ignite!

Catalyst, Training leaders February 1, 2018

I [Georgia Sims] have been a part of the Ignite team at Catalyst Festival for the last four years now. I now get the privilege of leading the amazing team, planning the activities and teaching for the fantastic kids who are a part of Ignite (School Years 3-6). There have been some real ‘WOW’ moments in God over the years, and I’m always humbled and, frankly, blown away by the level of faith and expectation our kids come to the Festival with and leave having had my faith completely stepped up a gear.

I’ll never forget the time when a 10 year old boy was asking God for clues in order that he could find who God wanted him to pray for. He’d pray to be given a colour group, then a small group within that colour group and finally which individual God would like him to speak to. He was so clearly encountering God in a very active and physical way and both he and the rest of the room were so blessed.

The thing I’m most excited about for Ignite in 2018 is once again seeing kids completely amazed by what their God can do. I’m totally pumped to see them understand more of what it means to walk with Jesus, not just when they’re in the sandbox of the Festival: but 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Our theme is going to be just that: how Jesus is the best thing we can possible be given: day, after day, after day.

We love to teach in cool, current and relational ways: we’re working to make it so that kids can understand things in a totally different way than they’re used to, making the Bible come alive and turning their excitement for going deeper in the Bible up to 11. I can’t wait to see all their faces when they come into the room for the first time and see what we’ve got in store for them as a theme… Trust me, it’s not just the kids who are going to be excited!

In Ignite, our heart is for people: whether it’s the youngest group member or an older member of the team we want to create a vibe of love for one another, outdoing one another in honour and having the warmth of a hot winter’s fire toward everyone, it’s something we want to grasp as a team in order to model it to the kids in the hope that it would catch on around the whole site. Kids are mini-influencers and have so much to bring to the wider church. We want them to know that you’re never too young to change the culture of the world around you.

The next term for me is going to be stuffed full of planning, prep and most of all, prayer. I’m seeking God with excitement and expectancy for another amazing time for these kids. Perhaps you’re wondering if this is something you’d like to be involved in at the Festival this year? It’s a great way to serve by investing in the next generation and it’s cracking fun too. I’d love to hear from you if you think it might be for you. Thanks for letting me present my heart for Ignite to you, for now, it’s a wrap!
